Welcome

My work begins with a feeling, a pull towards something not yet formed. I am drawn to the quiet pockets within nature. Much of what I create comes from time spent in quiet observation- of the landscape, of shifting light, of solitude and the inner world that runs parallel to everything else.

I live in the wilds of West Cork with my husband and children, where we are slowly restoring an old farm cottage and, in time, restoring an old cottage next to the house, into my studio.

It is an ongoing process- unfinished, evolving- and it has begun to shape both how I live and how I work. For now, I work in a temporary studio in a beautiful country house where we are staying for the next few weeks…after that who knows? I have learned to lean into uncertainty and walk lightly, at my own pace through and with this adventure.

I paint in order to make sense of the world, to communicate my inner voice, it is truly where my soul flies. My love of nature (my muse) has encouraged me to take a sustainable approach in my art business.

I use pigment powders or sometimes create my own pigments from clay, ash and driftwood. I then hand mull these pigments with a natural, non toxic eco oil like walnut oil. The process is meditative and the results are rich, beautiful and high quality oil paints. My work is entirely solvent free, made with nature in mind.

Recently, I’ve been exploring quieter ways of sharing this work. Through slow, reflective films, and through a monthly physical letter- a way of sending sketches, fragments, and small pieces of work out into the world in a more tangible form.

This is still unfolding.

“If you could say it in words, there would be no reason to paint.”
